2025 River Ride with Friends!

TourTom24-29

This year, Downriver Linked Greenways is giving our annual bike ride, formerly known as the Tour de Tom, a fresh new look. With our growing focus on trail development along the Detroit River, we are excited to introduce River Ride with Friends.

The event will feature a scenic 14-mile ride beginning at Elizabeth Park, traveling through the City of Gibraltar, and finishing at the southern end of Lake Erie Metropark. While the full ride covers 14 miles, it is designed for everyone with optional turnaround points along the route for those who prefer a shorter ride.

We are proud to highlight Programs to Educate All Cyclists (PEAC) as this year’s featured organization. Based in Lincoln Park, PEAC’s mission is to empower individuals with disabilities through cycling, active transportation, and self-advocacy education. Now more than ever, PEAC’s students need community support to continue growing their programs and expanding opportunities. By registering for this ride, your participation directly benefits PEAC, as all profits will be donated to support their work.

Even more inspiring, PEAC students will join us on the ride, giving participants a chance to meet them, ride alongside them, and hear their stories firsthand.

This year’s event is made possible in partnership with Destination Downriver, Programs to Educate All Cyclists, Huron-Clinton Metroparks, and Friends of the Detroit River.

The bike ride begins at 10 AM (we will suggest a 9:45 arrival time) at the Elizabeth Park Parking lot near the intersection of Grosse Ile Parkway and West Jefferson Avenue (See attached visual). This year's route will take riders through the City of Gibraltar and Lake Erie Metropark. Riders will also have the opportunity to hear from and ride with students from Programs to Educate All Cyclists (PEAC). PEAC empowers individuals with disabilities through cycling, active transportation, and self-advocacy education. For this years ride, all proceeds will be dedicated towards PEAC's operations and mission. More information will be provided to pre-registered attendees via email a few days prior to the event date.
